I had an incredible experience renting this van and would recommend it to anyone seeking a comfortable, reliable, and well-equipped mobile home. From a driving standpoint, the van was smooth and easy to handle, even on bumpy island roads. I only needed to refuel at the end of my trip, which made logistics simple. Mechanically, everything worked exactly as it should. There was even un updated touchscreen mutlimedia screen that I could pair my phone to and the sound system was great. The air conditioning was a lifesaver on humid nights, and features like the rear view camera made parking and reversing stress-free. The rear ventilation fan was another thoughtful touch that really helped keep the interior comfortable. What really set this van apart was how well it was designed for everyday living on the road. Ashley clearly put a lot of thought into outfitting it with everything a traveler might need. I appreciated the well-organized setup—trash bin, soap, bug spray, a moka pot for coffee, a gas grill with propane, silverware (even chopsticks!), and more. Having empty drawers to store my personal items made it easy to stay organized. The writing table was a welcome addition for journaling or reading, and the secret compartment for valuables offered extra peace of mind. One of the smartest features was the solar-powered system. It kept the fridge running overnight and let me charge all my devices without worry. That kind of setup shows real attention to the needs of travelers and made the experience feel effortless. The van truly felt like a compact, well-thought-out home on wheels. Every detail had a purpose, and it made for a relaxing and enjoyable trip. I’d absolutely rent it again.

Matt and his classic '93 Dodge campervan both get 5 stars. Matt was easy to communicate with and was friendly and helpful. The van was awesome. Although quite old, it was clean and had everything we needed. Comfy bed, lots of nice little extras and it ran great. We'd happily rent this van again when next on Oahu.

Matthew’s vintage ‘93 Dodge van was perfect for exploring the island of Oahu. It was very spacious and comfortable. We really enjoyed our time exploring and camping on the island with this van. That being said, it is an older van so expect it to have its quirks. The A/C does not work and the listing does mention that. However, we didn’t really need the A/C at all. We drove with the front windows down and we slept with the small side windows open (they are screened so bugs stay out). The fan inside the van helped keep the temperature pleasant at night and it was necessary. I imagine the lack of A/C would have been a problem if it rained a lot during our stay, but luckily, we experienced amazing weather! The fuel gauge doesn’t work so you have to keep that in mind and be aware of it. The van had everything we could need to get the most out of our trip on the island. We used the HipCamp App to find places to stay. The only negative thing about the van was that the inspection hasn’t been renewed and the sticker on the van is expired (1/25). This means the van could get ticketed or towed and it would be at the renters expense. A police officer was kind enough to let us know and advised us to be careful if parking in any public spaces. This makes is worrisome if parking at public parks, hikes, or going into some place like Wikiki.Overall, our trip went very well, we enjoyed amazing weather, and the van added a sense of nostalgia that made our time in Oahu very memorable! All the shelving along one side of the van helped keep us organized throughout our trip. It’s a solid older vehicle. I would rent it again.
