Billie is a badass van with a V10 sturdy engine, she can climb all over the island. A little rough on the outside so you blend in nicely, but comfy, cozy and vibey on the inside so you feel at home! She's fully self-sustained with an inverter that runs off the house battery which is charged by 200 watts of solar! This powers the 3.3 cubic foot fridge which has plenty of room for all of your food and nice cold beverages (the fridge runs when solar is in direct sunlight and for some time after but the batteries can only keep up when the solar panels are giving juice). The inverter is located in a cabinet under the fridge with some extra storage space. There is a roof vent fan to regulate temperature over the bed. Make sure this is closed if there is rain or else the motor will rust and get stuck. This helps keep good airflow! There is a storage cubby that holds all of the cooking gear, dishes, food storage etc. There is a 2 burner camp stove included. There is a sink added now with a foot pump and grey water system (photos to come). Under the bed is mainly storage space to utilize. Propane is available at Walmart or hardware stores. She is easy to learn to drive since you are higher up on the road you can see everything around you! I am open to negotiating longer term rentals as well :) Ask me anything about Billie or the island and I will answer as well as I can. What's includedBedding, pillows, a camp stove, some pots and pans and utensils are included with the van. There is also a 6 gallon fresh water jug. A 3.3 cu ft mini fridge with plenty of room for all of your food and beverages. Kind of a hostel situation for food where you may get some leftover non-perishable goods from other renters :) A French press. 2 towels are included as well. Battery operated string lights for visibility with good vibes after dark. 2 snorkel sets included as well!RecommendationsLiterally anywhere is beautiful! I love Honolii beach park for a beautiful sunset surf. Staying near Pahoa or Kalapana is wonderful. I also love going to Kailua Kona side and saying in Captain Cook or up north a bit near Waikaloa. Every part of the island has something beautiful to offer :)Other things to notePlease no climbing on the roof. It has had repairs so is sturdy but would prefer to not have any weight on it.
Please return the van with the same amount of gas as it was handed off with!
Please don't go to extremes with driving on dirt roads. If it looks like a 4 wheel drive is necessary, it probably is. I do encourage adventure as long as it is respectful to the vehicle :)
Don't forget to have fun, make beautiful memories, enjoy a cold one in the beautiful scenery and have a good laugh! :)

Meet your host, Brooke

I had always dreamed of converting a van but the van I had in California came to me already done. When I got to Hawaii I knew it was my chance to do a project that I've been dreaming up for a while and Billie came to fruition! I wanted a functional design that included many of the comforts of a home. I am open to having long term renters and working out a deal with that as well!

Brooke is a great host and the van is very pretty and cute.
She gave us a lot of recommendations about the island and some must see spots.
It has great amenities and it’s amazing to sleep at night.

We had an awesome trip in Billy Goat! Allowed us to travel and see more of the island than we would’ve staying in a hotel. Only hiccup was the inverter reading 0 after some rainy days. Overall, a great trip and Billy Goat got us where we needed to go.

My boyfriend and I had an amazing time with this van! As stated by the other reviews, it's very basic but the bed is soooo comfortable that we slept so well. My boyfriend is 6'3 and we made it work by sleeping diagonally. We felt very safe and stayed most nights at Spencer's Bay Park in the North of the island. I would definitely recommend staying there. Billie Goat has everything you need for an awesome vacation on the Big Island :) Brooke was an awesome host! Thank you!!

I had a great time visiting the island with the van. It is spacious and allowed me to travel with a bike and a lot of luggage, and I still had enough room for camping. It is old and basic, but was perfectly reliable during my entire holiday. The bed is small, though. I am 175 cm tall and had to sleep in it diagonally (which worked great and was comfortable :)). I did not use the fridge (did not work properly) or the kitchen, but the van comes with a cooler box, which was a good solution for me. A/C did not work, either, so it was very hot in the van during the day. Brooke was very responsive when messaging and Will, who managed my rental and return, was amazing: friendly, uncomplicated, made life easy for me and gave me a lot of helpful tips about camping on the island. Thank you to both of you!

Q.Where should I go?
A.
There are so many beautiful places to stay around the island. I would recommend the many pullouts along back roads or exploring so more rural areas to find nice secluded places to park. Just make sure you're not on anyone's land and you'll be good! The big island is much more friendly to this type of travel than Maui for example.

Q.How do the electric, water and sewage hook up work while setting up at the campground?
A.
There are not any hookups in the van as it is fully self sustained. The water tank is 6 gallons and can be filled at any water fill station either at a store or at one of the roadside springs located on the island. Electric is a house battery that is topped up by 200watts of solar. This battery connects to an inverter that powers the fridge and has plugs for chargers.

Q.Are there any special tricks and tips that would help with operating the RV easily?
A.
Since she was originally a passenger van, adjusting to driving is quite easy! You will be higher up on the road than a normal vehicle so seeing everything is actually easier in my opinion. Just be aware of the length on turns and don't take any too sharply or you may hit the side. I recommend a 2 point turn at least, in order to ensure clearing any obstacles when going around tight corners. And be extra careful backing up as it is 20ft long so it's harder to gauge distance from other objects.

Q.What flexibility is available for picking up and dropping off the RV?
A.
I am able to deliver to Hilo airport or Kona airport both for different fees.
