Dear, Outdoorsy, Directly after ordering the trailer at a set price, the owner emailed me to say that I must have clicked just before she changed the price, so she was going to adjust the invoice. After no response from me for three days, she messaged to say she’d leave it at the price I booked at. I would have cancelled if she hadn’t. Had I known then what I know now, I would have cancelled the reservation. We had many issues with this camper, some we aren’t going to add to this revew. It traveled well, so there were no issues towing it behind the pick-up truck. As for everything mentioned below, and more, we have picture or video proof to back up our claims. When it stormed, we have video poof of how the water poured in under the stove so much we went through more than a roll and a half of paper towels. The owner tried to brush it off as a little water came in through the door due to pine needles. I’m allergic to UV light, so not having an awning was a huge disadvantage to me. It was too hot being dressed head-to-toe without shade. Also, we were stuck indoors during light rains because the awning has a bent arm which prevented it from coming out. It was electric, so we tried several times, but it kept stopping halfway out and returning to the closed position. The owner said her husband didn’t open it completely before we rented it. When we returned the camper the man was shown the bent rail. We notified the wife in an email, and she claimed that he later opened it with no problem. We’ve had five trailers of our own, and my parents—whom were also with us—have owned at least eight trailers, so we know how to open an awning. This one was bent and we worried we'd destroy it if we forced the awning open, and we didn’t want to be blamed for it. The toilet gasket for freshwater leaked, so using that was tricky. The owner blamed this on the vibration from towing loosening the lines and said we should have turned the pump off. We had it off unless in use, but when we needed the pump for showering, the toilet would leak. It was an inconvenience. Before we picked it up, the male owner said the hot water tank was having issues but that he fixed it with a $110 part he got directly from the dealer. It still came on every few minutes, so we had to shut it off and turn it on only when we needed to use it, which wasn’t too much of an issue. The unit wasn’t cleaned properly. The stove and shower hadn’t been cleaned from the previous renters, and there was hair on the bathroom floor. I don’t expect perfection, but a dirty stove and bathroom are unsanitary. We were told the owner’s parent had passed away and the husband was supposed to have cleaned. The locking latch was broken for the safety window in the bedroom, so it couldn’t be held open. It was hot in there. My father gave it a temporary fix and we left it in place for the owners to either continue to use or remove and fix properly. We rented two propane tanks from them. One fitting that attaches the line to the tank was crumbling/deteriorating and unusable. We didn’t end up needing it, thankfully. This was brought to the owner’s attention and he agreed it was dangerous. The main 12-volt batteries wouldn’t hold a charge. We brought our generator and it proved invaluable. We had to charge the batteries if we needed to charge our phone or use the lights in the camper to prepare for bed. If the lights wouldn’t turn on and too late in the night to fire up the generator, we used flashlights. It was very inconvenient and noisy for other campers. We barely used the battery power and it would still die. We were told by the owner that the battery had been charged for days before we picked it up, and that they use solar panels and an inverter to keep the battery charged. The battery in the smoke detector for the bedroom was dead. We lost our camper last year due to a fire, so as you can imagine, this had us on edge. Needless to say, the rental of this camper and the frustrations to follow didn’t make our vacation as wonderful as it had been every year previous. We will not rent from them again. The cost of the trailer was far too much for the issues that came with it. Never again.

It was our first experience with Outdoorsy and well worth the drive out of our way to pick up the trailer! The trailer was clean and larger in person than the pictures make it to be. We were able to fit a single air mattress next to the futon (little walking path) which was perfect for 3 kids to sleep! We appreciated the flexible pick up and drop off time! Communication with the ower was easy with prompt responses. We did not utilize the kitchen (other than the cabinet storage), however, the trailer included pans, cutlery, cups, mugs and plates which were all cleaned prior to pick up. THANK YOU TERRI for a great experience! 😀
