Frequently asked questions
Q.
When should I get to my campsite/boondock spot for the night?
A.
I recommend limiting night time driving. It's nice to arrive at your sleeping spot during daylight hours. Then you can take time to set up your outdoor space, plug into shore power/city water/dump if you're using that, explore where you are staying, and settle in. The Lama Lo has great outdoor lighting--you may want to put up the awning, put down the outdoor rug, pour yourself a drink, and get comfy in your chair and your sheepskin. Don't overdo it--let yourself rest and chillax. Breathe!
Q.
How do I block out the sun/maintain privacy inside the Lama Lo while parked?
A.
The Lama Lo has custom black out shades for the windshield and driver and passenger windows. They are black & silver & go inside their respective windows, They are magnetic and the silver fabric faces out. The two back windows have removable screens. I recommend keeping the one by the backseat on and rolling up the 1 on the van door while driving so you can see if someone is on the right of you when turning left, etc. Rear cabin shades should be self explanatory. Back window rolls up & down.
Q.
What's up with the Airstream fan?
A.
CLOSED & OFF WHEN DRIVING! The Airstream fan is a wonderful feature! You OPEN it up and turn it ON and it brings in cool, fresh air and keeps the cabin cool. Note that evening temperatures can drop significantly, and so you may notice that you don't need to have the fan open/turned on at night. I like to keep the fan OPEN & ON during the day because it works well for ventilation. Always turn the fan OFF and CLOSE it before driving.
Q.
How do the electric, water and sewage hook up work while setting up at the campground?
A.
-Plug in (1) the surge protecter to shore power, (2) plug the van's power cord into the surge protector, once you see the light is green/good to go then (3) plug the van power cord into the van's 30 AMP plug to ensure you don't blow the van's power. -Water hose turns into the city water inlet on the side panel. Never flush/use the sink if there's not water in the tank/plugged into city water because you'll break the system.. -Dump hose goes into the sewer line--you're gonna love this part.
