Description of Beds: Mung Bean sleeps 2 people very comfortably. The bed is around 1.7m wide and 2m long. Or you can keep it as single and sleep in it width ways which would fit someone around 5'5 comfortably. I am 5'6 and I enjoy sleeping in it width ways when camping alone so that I dont have to make the bed every day!To get onto the bed you do have to push yourself up so a little bit of physical strength is needed. Converting the bed into a sofa also requires a little arm strength too, to pull/pull our sliding piece of ply.There is extra space in the garage (under the fixed part of the bed) for a little one if you wanted to bring a small blow up mattress. Or this space could be well suited to a fury friend.Description of Seating: Three belted seats in the front (including the driver). In the main living space, 4 people can sit on our side bench seats (2 on each).Description of Electrical Setup: Mung Bean offers a completely off-grid friendly electrical set up. We have 1 x 240v plug running off a 2000w Inverter and 4 x 12v USB charging points. Our battery is a large 560Ah Fogstar lithium battery. There are also 2 extra USB points in the cab section to be used whilst driving. Our batteries charge through both solar panels and through driving the van. In the summer, our solar power can enable you to live off grid for as long as you need. In the winter, it can last on average around one week before needing to drive to recharge the battery.Parking: We have on street parking outside of our house with no restrictions where you are welcome to leave your car.Kitchen Facilities: Mung Bean is an excellent van for people who enjoy cooking. We have a 3 ringed gas hob with a gas oven, both powered by LPG. Mung Bean has everything you will need including 2 mugs, 4 cups, 4 plastic plates, 4 plastic bowls, a kettle, utensils, a chopping board, small frying pan and a large and small sauce pan. Mung Bean also has a very generously sized fridge with a small freezer compartment, as well as a large amount of kitchen storage.Bathroom Facilities: There is a 60 litre water tank that supplies drinking water to the sink using a foot pump. We enjoy the foot pump option as it helps us to save water and it feels aligned to us to not need electricity to do everything for us. Typically when staying in Mung Bean we use around 3 litres per day per person, so this is enough to last a couple of weeks. Hot water can be heated on the hob. Mung Bean does have a very basic composting toilet, which is in the main living space but the position has a discrete feel to it. It is as simple as it gets with a separator and must be emptied regularly.Type of Heating: Mung Bean gets nicely toasty with her amazing diesel heater, running off of our engine diesel. Just 10-15 minutes is usually all it takes to get nicely warm.Pet Information: Yes Mung Bean loves furry friends! You may provide your own dog bed to go in the garage area, underneath the bed. This should be plenty space for 1 large dog or 2 smaller dogs.Conversion Story: Back in 2024, we felt a huge pull towards van life after renting in Brighton for years. We converted her ourselves with no previous experience, and learnt from some incredible people on YouTube. After 2 years of building, altering, travelling, altering some more we are finally so pleased with how she is. We chose to have a very simple and stealthy design. With only one side window, we can park almost anywhere without people knowing Mung Bean is our wonderful home. This does mean it can feel a little dark if we aren't facing the sun, but the safety this brings us is absolutely worth it. She has everything you need and whilst having a very lovely DIY feel to her, for example some latches we have made from string or our water foot pump. My partner and I have really enjoyed having lived in Mung Bean full time for 2 years but we are currently renovating a flat in Eastbourne, so we would be so pleased for her to get back out on the road with some new friends. I am 5 foot 6, and my partner is a bit taller, so you'll find some things are just a few inches taller than you may expect. The kitchen surfaces are slightly higher than standard ones. The bed requires a little arm strength to jump up onto, and converting the bed into a sofa requires a little arm strength too.
