We requested to see the RV before we booked, the owner agreed. The RV was clean which was one of my main reasons to see it beforehand. We discussed next steps and the Troy seems ok at the time although it seemed almost every question (even very simply questions) was answered with “its Outdoorsy policy, and it will void my contract”. Upon hearing back from another owner that the original RV we wanted was not available we decided to rent this one.Prior to renting I inquired about pick up and drop off times through the messenger on this site, because we did not see times listed. Troy stated pick up was at 12pm drop off was at 2pm, he also stated to us verbally he might be able to do a little earlier for pick up. Upon reaching out the day before pickup he stated the pickup was not until 3pm and drop off would be 9am. Very surprised we reminded him of the initial times given to us. He stated that was incorrect and he could not change the times because it would void his contract with Outdoorsy. Very upset, we stated the plans we made to pick up at 12pm and having to return at 9am was not feasible. It was not the original times given. I do contract negotiating therefore I understand how to interpret a contract. Upon review I found nothing stating times or that a change would void the contract. I also contacted Outdoorsy, who confirmed times are between the owner and renter, they do not control them, and it does not void the contract. Troy was still unwilling to change. At this point if we could have cancelled with losing our money we would have. The day of pick up about 1 and 1/2 hour before picking up the owner texted stating he could honor a pickup a little earlier if we still wanted. He also stated we could return at 2pm instead of 9am. This frustrated us even more because we had now changed our plans and all he had to do in the beginning was honor what he originally stated and not changed his mind the day of. He gave a thoroughly review of the RV explaining hookups, functionality and the walk around noting any flaws. etc. It felt like he was trying to make small talk as I am sure he could see we were upset. On the day of return, we arrived about 15 minutes early. The RV was to be dropped off at the same gated storage facility. I pulled up and proceed to park in an open spot. Troy stated and gestured with his hand to pull forward to a spot in front of him which was very tight. He watched and moved backwards directing as I pulled forward. The back of the RV hit a light pole with yellow paint, causing paint damage, we acknowledge we had not turned over the key, however the RV was stopped, and I moved forward under direction of the owner. Because of this we asked if part of the repair could be split. He stated he would not and denied that he was not directing us. The repair came out of our security deposit.Let me be clear this review is not in refence to the RV. It is in reference to the experience with the Troy, the owner. Even if the mishap didn’t happen when we returned it, our review would sill be the same. He was not true to his word from the beginning in reference to the times and tried to blame Outdoorsy for things they had nothing to do with. The RV was very nice, and we did not have any issues with it. It did lack modern functionality and the décor was very basic, but we knew that when we rented it. As stated, the original RV we wanted was not available. The trip was very nice, and we enjoyed the RV. Please make sure all correspondence is tracked on Outdoorsy. We will rent again, but definitely not from this owner even if he got a newer model.
