About Brendan Jones

Hello! Born in Colorado, where my parents worked as journalists on the Rocky Mountain News, I moved at the age of three to downtown Philadelphia. At the age of 19 I left Columbia University, and boarded a Greyhound west. In the remote fishing village of Sitka, I worked for a salmon hatchery for a few months, then got a job as a cub reporter for the Daily Sitka Sentinel. All the while living in the woods of the Tongass rainforest, first in a tent, which I promptly burnt down due to inexperience, then a hut of my own making. Five years later I graduated from Oxford University, and spent time traveling between writing residencies at MacDowell, Fundacion Valparaiso, Ragdale, Caldera, and others. My book was published, The Alaskan Laundry. I fell in love in Alaska, and my wife and I started our family. I continue to commercial fish, while also writing for The Smithsonian, New York Times, Washington Post, Huffington Post, among others. I did a Fulbright in Russia, and was caught over there when COVID-19 started. My family bought the Airstream to be safe as we returned to Alaska. We are now in Seattle - and eager to rent to you! We are in love with the Airstream life - it fits us perfectly.
